Report: Time Warner Cable in talks with Dwight Howard on TV show if he re-signs with Lakers
The courtship of Dwight Howard has extended beyond the basketball court and possibly into Los Angeles homes on TV if Howard re-signs with the Lakers.
According to ESPN’s Arash Markazi, Time Warner Cable and Howard have had “preliminary” talks about Howard having his own television show if he decides to return to the Lakers. Time Warner Cable is reportedly “desperate” for original programming and could possibly assist the Lakers in their pursuit of Howard.
The Lakers have already put in place an elaborate marketing campaign to keep Howard with the team. The team started the campaign by placing a banner on the side of Staples Center with the word “stay” and the hashtag “#STAYD12″ emblazoned next to a photo of Howard. A team spokesman said there will be six or seven different billboards in hopes of bolstering the Lakers’ chances of re-signing Howard.
Time Warner Cable and the Lakers reached a deal last year to broadcast Lakers games on two channels to Time Warner Cable subscribers.
