Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Johnny Cueto exited in the second inning of Friday’s game against the Texas Rangers with a lat injury, the Cincinnati Enquirer‘s John Fay reports.

Cueto left the game with no outs and a one-ball, two-strike count on Mitch Moreland before grimacing on his final pitch attempt. Manager Dusty Baker came to the mound to inspect Cueto before replacing him with Tony Cingrani. The team made no announcement on the severity of Cueto’s injury.

Cueto was forced onto the disabled list twice already this season with a strain in his right lat muscle. Cueto entered his start on Friday with a 4-1 record and a 3.21 ERA over seven starts this season for the Reds.
