Miami Heat forward LeBron James took his talents to South Beach in the summer of 2010 in order to bring multiple titles to the city. Now that he has done that, July 1, 2014 is a target date on every GM’s calendar as he can become a free-agent and opt out of his contract.

James has said he wants to keep winning with the team and will earn $19.07 million next season. James has option seasons on his contract for $20.59 million in 2014-15 and $22.11 million in 2015-16.

“That’s the goal,’’ James said to Fox Sports Florida about wanting to be part of Heat president Pat Riley’s vision of winning many titles. “That’s the ultimate finish. And we all hope that can happen, obviously, to be able to have success with the two guys (Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh) and with Riles and (coach Erik Spoelstra). This is what we came here for.”

James was unsure about his long-term future with the team and is not thinking about next year.

“I don’t know,’’ James said. “Life changes. Things happen. You have to be prepared for that. But this is what we all want to be here for, and that’s to be able to compete for a championship each and every year. And, if we can do that, then it would be awesome.

That what he said" Life changes, anything happened. LeBron James in the other hand  is thinking about player option next summer  to be the next superstar in Tinseltown . Since the Lakers are not sure about D12 re signing and Kobe's contract expiring next year no doubt he will explore the Hollywood life. No star player doesn't want to be in the spotlight of the celebrity corner. Can' you?

Le Bron James has a better chance to win a few more rings if he moves back to the Midwest. Not Cleveland (they will take years to build up), not Detroit (not in a hurry to win championships), not Chicago (there is no room for another MVP), but at Pacers land (Indiana is a young and talented ensemble of players who can excel under an MVP and legendary Larry Bird as GM). The Eastern Conference finals showed that LBJ can cruise to multiple NBA championships with Hibert, George and others flanking around LBJ.

Word on the street is Lebron has always dreamed of playing for the Hawks . My source even said he would be willing to take an hourly wage just to play home games at the highlight factory .

Actually it was more. He pays no State taxes in Florida. He is making a fortune down there. Plus being in the south tip of Florida he doesn't have much competition in the area in the form of endorsement monies as well. Don't kid yourself why do you think he chose Miami over other locations? To be in Hurricane Alley? Illegal immigrant central? It is all about the money money money with the modern day athlete.

And some media person blows this waaaaaay out of proportion in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .

Papi Del Negro..... Dont ask
Papi Del Negro..... Dont ask

Its not him, its the media that creates this ridiculous spectacle that leads to something like The Decision. When he first signed in 2010, everyone knew of the opt out clause, and two championships maybe three later, why not opt out if there is more money to be made. If he wants to be a mercenary, so be it. Just tell the media to stop with the ridiculous circus of hype but then hey what would thy have to talk about?

@DalePearl It has been about the money for a long time. Athletes in the 1920's did it for the money - let's not be naive about this.

@DalePearl It's more about winning then following the money, he made that clear when he went to Miami
