Tiki Barber: Warren Sapp is an ‘idiot’ for Michael Strahan comments
One former New York Giants great came to the defense of another on Monday, as Tiki Barber called all-time NFL great Warren Sapp an “idiot” for recent comments detrimental toward former Giants defensive end Michael Strahan.
Last week, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Sapp continued a longstanding feud with Strahan, telling The Tampa Tribune fellow Bucs defensive end Simeon Rice should be placed in the Hall of Fame before Strahan.
“Warren’s an idiot,” Barber told the New York Post’s Paul Schwartz on Monday, while attending the Big Daddy Celebrity Golf Classic at Oheka Castle in Huntington.
“He just wants to say things to be idiotic. I played with Stray for my whole career. He is the greatest of the great. He is a great teammate, he kept things light, but on game day he was as serious as a heart attack and it showed in his play.”
Sapp blasted Strahan’s career because he said it didn’t take off until he was moved from the right side to the left side of the line, meaning he only excelled when playing against right tackles and not more elite left tackles.
“Warren doesn’t know, never played with him,” Barber said. “I don’t put any credence in his opinion. I hope Stray doesn’t let it bother him. I don’t think it does.”
