Allen Iverson’s ex-wife says that the former Sixers star has abducted his own children, according to reports from TMZ and NESN.

Tawanna Iverson filed papers that said Allen asked for permission to take their five kids on vacation on May 22 and agreed to bring them back on May 26. When that day rolled around, Iverson had not returned the kids. The kids range in age from 3 to 16 years old.

Tawanna, who has sole legal and primary physical custody of their children, set up an exchange with Allen on June 4, but he did not show up, according to the report. Tawanna has not seen them since. She believes he never took them to North Carolina and has them at a Sheraton Hotel in Georgia.

No one here knows the story - Folks are generating these responses on a multitude of biases.  Had Time Duncan or Larry Bird been accused of this, the responses would have been much different.   The Iversons had been having problems for years - (remember he once chased her out of their home while she was stark naked) and unless you are one of them - you truly do not know why.  This could be a man fighting to see his children in the only way he thinks he has - or this can be another case of a man totally ignoring a court order in a spousal dispute - and giving his fame and fortune - he thinks he can get away with it.  Then again, it could be Iverson's way of getting back in people's minds - For some - even bad attention is good - so long as it is SOME attention.  None of knows - and too bad the couple's marital family problems get publicized - all this talk about what a looser he is.. and what a cow she is.... No one has talked about how all of this impacts the children.  And apparently, the Iversons might not be thinking about that either.  Who knows?

Iverson used to come into a restaurant I bartended at with his kids all the time when he was with the Nuggets. A real class act, always engaging with his kids, making sure they were well behaved and polite. It was clear to anyone there how much he loved them.

I can't feel sorry for athletes who are dumb enough to keep knocking up some fertile cow. I am sure Iverson is paying a fortune in child support - but he was stupid enough to board that ride five times.

It's not like he can hide out for very long.  Hope this is resolved in a reasonable manner

good for Allen. I'm sure he is a good father who just wants to see his kids.

who cares about this loser? he was, is, and will always be a loser.

I'm not saying anything remotely like parents never abduct their own children, but the word is used FAR too often to describe more complex situations, because its a nasty word to use which makes the "abductor" look like a nutcase.  He didn't come back from vacation, she has custody, they're probably fighting........he is probably wrong here, but lets not make it like he's some kind of kidnapper.

Somebody thinks he can stop paying child support.  Guess again, Allen.

@BoxJohnson

Too bad the clown blew all his money on stupid junk and now his kids are broke like him.

@WilyCoyoteSuperGenius a very ignorant and misogynistic view.  This is no random "cow" as you so un-intelligently - and disgustingly put it.  This woman was his wife! Clearly you are a "man" who hates women - (resent the "cow" that birthed you?) and we know what type of people you usually are: abusers and rapists!

@LeilaniHernandez He wasn't a loser at practice. Oh wait we aren't talking about practice are we.

The worst decision ever made by the Pistons (among many bad ones) was to trade to get this idiot.

@Dan18 I agree. I was thinking the exact same thing. I figured it was something like this before I even read the story, I seriously doubted he "kidnapped" the children.

Whatever

@Dan18 Um, yes it does. He does not have custody of the kids, and therefore when he prevents them from returning to the custodial parent and won't reveal their location, he has kidnapped them.

@Mark4 child support if nothing else , gets them every time

@SukeMadiq You mean, LITERALLY like him? Because he grew up broke. Money comes and goes. Good parents are worth their weight in gold.

@BlackProudWoman!  And you came to that conclusion because of one word he used to reference Iverson's ex-wife?  Pretty ignorant and misogynistic of you, as well.

@Whatever @Dan18 Actually the usage of the term  kidnapping is not correct in this case. What he appears to have done is committed one of two CRIMES. He is either guilty of custodial interference or of parental abduction.

Kidnapping is generally referred to in popular culture as the taking of a child by a non-relative. Since he is the father of these children, he has not committed kidnapping as the popular culture definition would imply. He does appear to have committed a crime by not returning the children to the custodial parent.

The question might be regarding any trouble she may be in as well. They were due to be returned on May 26th, then again on June 4th. They still have not been returned. When were these court papers filed? It better have been on June 4th after he failed to return them after the second agreed upon return time.

it's a bizarre idea, that a parent can "abduct" that parent's own children.

@BoxJohnson

Probably no worse than knowing that no one cares about you as you live, Box.

And no one gives a damn about you. No one.

How does it feel to know that no one will care when you die, @riley8?

So let's get this straight.  You saw Iverson at a restaurant bar with his kids and suddenly you are an expert at his parental skills? You sir, are a genius.
