Houston Texans safety Ed Reed said his recent hip injury occurred when New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady kicked him in the AFC championship game.

Brady kicked Reed while sliding to the ground during the Ravens’ 28-13 victory on their way to a Super Bowl championship. Brady was later fined $10,000 by the NFL for unnecessary roughness. Reed then had surgery April 30 to repair a partly torn labrum.

“The only play I could look at is when I got kicked by a certain quarterback,” Reed said Tuesday at Texans minicamp, via Comcast SportsNet Houston. “But even then, I played in the Super Bowl and you saw what happened there.”

“If you ask my trainer and ask my doctor, they can’t believe where I’m at now,” Reed said. “It’s still a process. We want to be smart through it. At the end of the day, the smartest thing is to be ready when it really counts — and that’s the latter part of the season when you’re making that run to the playoffs and on to the Super Bowl.”

The nine-time Pro Bowler said he isn’t sure if he’ll be ready to play for the Texans in the season opener Sept. 9.

He can think of any other plays that he could have suffered the injury on? Maybe the doctors need to be looking at his head, not his hip. There might be some damage there is he can't remember any other plays he could have gotten hurt on. He is a very physical player and could have been injured on any number of plays during that portion of the game. Heck, he could have been injured jogging to the sideline after that play.

It was a bad play by Brady but that was months ago.  Move on, Reed

Amazing that Reed can cry about a little contact when he headhunts on every play and tries to knock players out.  He was about to hit a sliding QB, too bad he got a little kick before he could do that.

I wonder if Brady would have taken out Reed's knee on that kick, and then the Pats went on to go to the Super Bowl, if the NFL would have stuck by its guns and suspended its Golden Boy or if they would have let him play just for the ratings and money... That would have been great to see the Patriots in the Super Bowl with Brady suspended for it!

Cheap shot by Brady but why is he bringing this up now?

Unbelievable, wait, believable cheap shot. And so unnecessary. Did they even call a penalty on Brady during the play? If not why not? You know the refs were watching to see if anyone hurt Tommy Boy. So they had to see what Brady did, on purpose! And where was the media then and now? If the situation had been reversed, you'd be hearing these hacks talking about harsher penalties or rules changes!

@Rosie68 Yep, pull up two waaaaaaambulances for him.  If your hip gets damaged by a QB sticking his foot out, you're made of paper.

Now why did Ed want to play for the Pats if he'd legitimately been injured by their starting QB?  At least until they didn't want him because he's old and injury prone.

Apparently you do, not only enough to read it but to actually take time to comment.....

@MichelLackiz For capitals, use the 'shift' key.  It's on the far left, second from the bottom.  And the period key is just right of the comma key. Try using them and people will people will not immediately dis your opinions.  Just sayin'.
