The Pittsburgh Steelers defense still remembers what it’s like to lose to Tim Tebow. Three defenders told The Pittsburgh-Tribune Review that they think Tebow can still play in the NFL.

Tebow led the Broncos to a playoff win over the Steelers on January 8, 2012. Linebacker Larry Foote said he thought Tebow at least still deserved a shot at a job. From The Pittsburgh-Tribune Review:

“He won some games, had some success,” Foote said. “We know it first-hand. I think he should be somewhere at least competing for a job. I think he’s earned that.”

Defensive back Ike Taylor, who was burned by the Broncos passing game during the Steelers playoff loss, grudgingly admitted respect. From the report:

“Tim Tebow is real decent,” Taylor said. “But (his future) isn’t up to me. You gotta ask the owners and coaches and GMs. As far as being a competitor, he’s one of the best competitors I’ve seen.”

Tebow threw for 316 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions against the Steelers in 2012. Pittsburgh lineman Brett Keisel agreed that Tebow could still play.

“He beat us. You have to give him credit for that,” Keisel said. “I think he’ll get another shot.”

of course he can still play. just because the Jets didn't know what they were doing doesn't mean that applies everywhere. NE will win some games with Tebow.

And Vince Young can still play also- too bad the Texans won't use him- he is a much better athlete than Schwab.

Some GM will eventually grow a set and sign Tebow and will be proven a wise person.

Phoenix sure could use him.  And then the Cards could use a lot.  He would add a lot of fun to our games for sure.  Good luck to him where ever he goes....

The Steelers are going to sign him.

Because that's a lot less embarrassing than admitting your old, tired, injured defense got beat by a guy that can't sniff a starting job in the CFL.

@matt37  The Steelers D was awesome in 2011..Just got out coached and underestimated Tebow.

@matt37The Steelers' defense allowed the fewest points, passing yards, and total yards in the 2011 NFL season.  Yeah, that sounds old, tired, and injured to me.  Doesn't it suck when facts get in the way of your (baseless) hating?

@matt37 The Steelers didn't take him seriously as a passing threat and they paid the price for being overconfident.  No one else will ever make that mistake.

@j7apple @matt37 Agreed.  Because the next week one of the worst past defenses of the last decade EMBARRASSED Mr. Tebow.  The same defense that got torched by Matt Moore, Rex Grossman, etc.

@evotava @matt37 And then one of the worst pass defenses of the last decade (Patriots) EMBARRASSED him the next week.

@evotava @matt37 What about my post was incorrect?  By the playoffs, the Steeler Defense was old, tired and injured.  And the man that beat them can't sniff a starting job in the CFL, much less the NFL.

@Azeron@matt37 Last 5 weeks of the 2011 season:1-4 record.  <43% completion percentage.  More turnovers than TDs.  Gems such as 6-22 for 60 yards vs the Chiefs.  The NFL stopped taking Tebow seriously as a passing threat about 5 weeks before that Steelers game.

@evotava Correct - he suffered the injury in the third quarter, though and the score was 35-7.

As far as defenses go - if you want to say that Tebow beat the #1 Steelers defense (based on the regular season and not accounting for injuries and DNPs) then you also have to say that he lost to the #25 ranked defense in the NFL.

Yeah, and Tebow had a broken collarbone that game. If you were being objective you'd mention that. The Pats' defense had been improving the whole season, which is why they made it the playoffs that year. And finally, you're really going to fault a rookie QB for losing to the Pats in the playoffs? How many veteran QBs have been humiliated by the Pats in the playoffs. But when it happens to Tebow he sucks?

@evotava The Steelers had the #1 defense in the league during the regular season and was playing without their leading tackler and with an offense that was missing their starting RB and center - which led to the defense being on the field a lot more.  The Broncos beat the Steelers and Tebow contributed, although it shouldn't have been as close as it was but Tebow did keep it close by going 1-4 in the red zone and completing under 50% of his passes.

Everything about your post was incorrect. Every team has injuries every year. The Steelers still had the #1 defense in the league, period, and Tebow beat it. If you're going to criticize something at least voice a valid one. Probably better if you just admit you hate Tebow and move on.
