Clay Buchholz leaves Saturday’s start with neck tightness
Clay Buchholz left Saturday’s game in the seventh inning, after 104 pitches, with neck tightness. The right-handed pitcher left the game with the trainer.
CBSSports.com speculated that Buchholz could have been injured at several points in the game. He fell while covering first base early in the game and later took a line drive off the left wrist. However, replays show Buchholz flexing his right arm immediately before signaling for the trainer to come to the mound.
Over the 6 2/3 innings before his exit, he allowed just one run on six hits and a walk.
Buchholz is considered day-to-day for now and is expected to start next game.
