Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Mike Adams was stabbed in the stomach in an apparent robbery attempt Saturday morning and is expected to make a full recovery, the team said.

Adams is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

“We are aware of the situation regarding Mike Adams being stabbed earlier this morning,” Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said. “We are in direct communication with both Mike and his family. Mike is expected to make a full recovery.”

Adams’ agent Eric Metz told NFL.com that Adams was stabbed after confronting three assailants who allegedly tried to steal his truck. Adams then gave chase after being stabbed.

According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, the 6-foot-7, 323-pounder had surgery at UPMC Mercy. The report says that the knife wound involved no vital organs.

A 2012 second-round pick, Adams started six of the 10 games he played last season.

What kind of idiot tries to rob a guy 6'7" and 350 lbs with only a knife? That person just cost a man his health for a while and now cost The Steelers  a lineman they were counting on.

Johnny1, you seem to be the inbred son of a room-temperature IQ father and a cool-room-temperature mother.

(Sigh). You're right, but I hate it when people post political things on sports sites. The fact that the only places people might find his remarks clever are at Fox News or Mount Rushbaugh just makes it that much worse.

@touseyd @Johnnie1 Look at the intentionally bad spelling and exaggerated manner.  Relax, he's just deliberately trolling.

@Phrustrated_phan Even there I don't think they'd consider the behavior 'clever'.  He's just getting his kicks attempting to be a trolling embodiment of a gross stereotype, and it's not subtle.
