Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz cleared to start Friday
Boston Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz was cleared to start Friday against the New York Yankees after he was scratched from his scheduled turn in the rotation on Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies due to discomfort in his collarbone, reports the Providence Journal.
Buchholz was able to throw this week and the collarbone injury doesn’t seem to be serious.
Buchholz began feeling pain in the AC joint of his right shoulder after his last start on last Wednesday. The team originally called the injury “irritation in right AC joint.”
Buchholz is 7-0 with a 1.73 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 73 strikeouts in 72 2/3 innings this season.
