Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger knows a thing or two about high expectations put on young signal callers once they enter the NFL.

For up and coming stars like Robert Griffin III, Andrew Luck, Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson, Roethlisberger says they need to prove that they are more than just a one year wonder.

“People ask me all the time about these young quarterbacks,” Roethlisberger said to USA TODAY. “Let’s wait. One year does not mean a lot in this league. Let’s see what happens in two, three years.

Roethlisberger went 14-1 as a starting quarterback in his rookie season in 2004 and helped lead the team to the AFC Championship game. He also won AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. The Steelers won the Super Bowl the next year.

BURKE: Each team’s most pressing question in offseason

“I’m not trying to take anything away from them. I think they did some great things last year, and they all have the potential to be great quarterbacks,” Roethlisberger said. “But you don’t want people to jump on their bandwagon so fast and put so much pressure on them to live up to those expectations. My advice to them is to keep doing what you’re doing, playing as hard as you can because people will keep trying to build you up and it could get tough.”

I'm a Steelers fan from back before Chuck Noll so I've followed some stinky Steeler teams. Now, with Ben in his later years they aren't as bad as stinky but they are trending toward mediocre. I think they won't win big again until they cut ties with Ben and his way too big of a contract and find a QB that will play the position correctly, not like Ben has tried to do which is hold the ball far too long and then take a sack or fight for a few more seconds until another injury is added to the list under "Roethlisberger".

Yeah...he must be jealous: Offensive rookie of the year; went 14-1 and took his team to a championship game his rookie year; youngest qb to win a super bowl in only his 2nd year; led his team to a 4th quarter win in what was arguably the greatest Super Bowl game ever.  Yeah...he definitely jealous.

He jealous and you mad, he's been mediocre since that lucky run where the team got hot. If you think they won b/c he was the best qb in the league that year, then you're just a homer.

Yes...a mediocre qb that helped lead his team to 3 super bowls.  In his first 7 years in the league, aside from Brady, NO ONE else touches Big Ben's stats.

Then he ate 87 cheeseburgers, pushed himself on some random in the bathroom and washed it down with a keg of beer.

he's absolutely right...espn is trying to make rg3 into a lebron james...they have something about him everyday. Did he win anything????  He had A great year which he had a potentially devistating injury the last game...

At least there's one thing these young quarterbacks HAVEN'T done yet and that's rape someone. that's something that Rapistberger can't say.

There's only one problem with your accusation: No evidence...

No evidence? You must be joking. Read the police report. It's all there. She declined to press charges because she didn't want to go through the BS that other women have gone through after being raped by "superstar" athletes. Her friends tried to help her but were kept out of the room by his bodyguards. Big man.
