Michael Vick: I’m the NFL’s fastest quarterback

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who will turn 33 next month, says when it comes to foot speed he can leave any other quarterback in the dust.

Vick said he is still the NFL’s fastest quarterback on Friday’s edition of the “Dan Patrick Show” and also said he still possesses more open-field speed than Colin KaepernickRobert Griffin III or any other NFL quarterback.

Vick is the NFL’s career leader among quarterbacks with 5,551 rushing yards.

“These guys are young and they’re fast and they’re quick, the thing I do have is a very quick get-up,” Vick said. “I really don’t feel like there’s a quarterback in the league who can beat me in a 40-yard dash. If somebody wants to set something up, I’ll be more than glad to accept the challenge. But as of right now I’m going to say me. But Colin Kaepernick is fast and RG3 is fast as well.”

Vick beat Eagles teammate LeSean McCoy in the 40-yard dash at practice earlier this month. McCoy said Vick cheated in the race.

Also is career leader in dog skulls crushed, dogs strangled by hand and dogs electrocuted. Congratulations.

Fastest QB in the NFL. Especially in the department of declining.

Vick is an idiot. He plays his heart out when no one wants him, then when he gets a $100 million deal in 2011, he just floats along like the lazy piece of crap that he is. He did it with the Falcons, he is doing it with the Eagles. Eagles are the stupidest ones to offer Vick's dumbass with $100 million and $40 million of it guaranteed. They deserve every loss for the next 6 years of Vick's contract.

Ummmm- I thought it was suppose to be Wins - LOSSES - and CHAMPIONSHIPS- silly me

RGIII was faster before the injury...and I think Wilson maybe right there too

well, all other stuff aside, he IS right and, in the days when he had protection and/or weapons, he's eat the others alive.... speed isn't EVERYTHING, but speed and experience AND TEAMMATES is a winning combo.

I'm interested to see the next few years of his career...

Over ten years in the league and he still thinks it's more important for a QB to be fast...what a moron.

20 plus comments finding something else to criticize the man over. Fans, people who never set foot on a field a day in their life, LOVE being couch analysts, critics, and cynics. And for what....a "feel good"..."I told him" moment...THAT is pathetic. He was asked a relevant question, he then responded with self confidence...non-story.

But yet, I didn't see Vick in the playoffs - but I did see Kap, Russell Wilson and RGIII.....  and I expect to see them all again next year (as long as RGIII recovers)

I'd rather have the winning QB on my team.

Vick probably is a bit faster than Kaepernick.  But at 25 years old, Kap is more mature, more disciplined and has a better sense of accuracy, decision making and defense reading than Vick will ever have.  So yeah, I'll take Kap thanks.

Give me mobility as a QB over speed, anyday.  Ability to evade the rush, gain a few, score a few, that's a plus.  Unfortunatley for Mike and other flash QBs their running ability (athleticism) too often gives excuse to rabbit at first whiff of trouble while never learning to read the field with all due speed (where it really matters) or allow for receivers to re-route.

Gotta' be married to that pocket as an NFL quarterback.  It's not always easy, hits can be wicked, run-separations can happen but you gotta' stick it out if you wanta' hoist Mr. Lombardi.

For OBVIOUS reasons...being a champion is far more exciting than watching a guy running for his life.....and F'n up doing that!

Great....but passing is what makes a good QB, and you suck at that Vick.

Hell I'll set something up Michael. Y'all come over to my place and first one to the telephone pole and back wins. Losers buy the beer.

I have no doubt Ron Mexico is the fastest QB in the league. But hitting your target when you're breaking the sound barrier would be a lot more interesting and helpful.

At least they hold on to the ball...you are sooo fast you forget to bring it with you...

Does this mean he is planning to run for a political office?

Only fast when the dogs are chasing him.

who cares? the real question is: is he the most durable qb in the league? far from it.

If he's so fast, why is he such an easy sack target?

Do they hand out trophies for that?

Too bad quarterbacks have to throw well to be successful.

And I'm my physics lab's best bench presser.

Seriously, being the fastest QB in the league is a pretty small value.

@TMAN1 RGIII, maybe.  Wilson?  Not even close.  You must be thinking of Kaepernick.....

FootballNotForWomen

He fails as a QB. Period. His team, his leadership, his skill set... this amounted to? 4-12 season. Only one good season, 2010, and he didn't play the whole season at that. What since then? Nothing.

TMAN1

@RobMonteleone well, that's all he has....can't throw, can't read defenses, he has to put stock in something...LOL

@JulesG I couldn't agree more. The mark of a hater at heart and a real loser is a criticism of another person that is doing something that the person doing the criticizing has never even tried. Or who would in any attempt be a failure if he did try yet chooses to criticize another person. Osama Bin Laden was the greatest hater of all...something to think about.

@kemp1313 Usain Bolt would get sacked too if he played behind an offensive line that looked like Swiss Cheese! Watch the tape.

@riley8 You are a hater and a loser period. Probably racist too.

@Matthew W No, no, they fixed him. Apparently, at least 4 other coaches never bothered to show him how to hold a football.

@DonovanO.Johnson @riley8 Get over the exceptionally savage way he killed his dogs?  Not to mention the ones that survived.  Yes, he served his time.  But those dogs are still dead.

matt37

@cyber92sax @Matthew W Yeah, like Tebow being in his 20th year of organized football before anyone bothered to show him how to throw.  Riiiiiiiiight.

@LeilaniHernandez Not by everyone.  I am labeling him as the guy who served his time, then went back to playing football and making a bunch of money,  while simultaneously causing a bunch of you to get twisted into knots.
