Tiger Woods tweeted Wednesday morning that a “fried chicken” remark made by rival Sergio Garcia was inappropriate, but he believes that Garcia regrets the attempted joke.

Garcia was at an awards dinner Tuesday when he was jokingly asked whether he would have Woods — with whom he recently feuded at The Players Championship — over for dinner.

“We will have him round every night,” Garcia said, according to a report in The Guardian. “We will serve fried chicken.”

Garcia later apologized and said the question “was clearly made towards me as a joke with a silly remark, but in no way was the comment meant in a racist manner.”

Woods rejected that explanation but called for the golf community to move forward in a series of tweets.

Later on Wednesday morning, Garcia apologized again at a press conference. “My answer was totally stupid and out of place,” Garcia said. “I feel sick about it.”

It's O.K. Tiger, after the chicken dinner you can have Sergio mow your lawn and then pick your onions

George, do you mean put up like in the following?

Tiger - 14 majors / Sergio - 0 majors

Tiger - 78 PGA tour victories / Sergio  - 8 PGA tour victories

Tiger - On course career earnings = 120 million USD / Sergio = 42 million USD

Tiger vs. Sergio head to head - Tiger - 6 wins / Sergio - 0 wins

@GeorgeVieto Quite silly of you.... the real comment should be: Sergio get over it! You'll never be the player he is.
