The National Hockey League is arguably the least popular of the four major North American sports, but if you were to ask NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, investing in one of the league’s teams, or any team for that matter, could net you millions.

Bettman visited he New York Stock Exchange with the Stanley Cup and then did an interview with CNBC to discuss the growth of the league.

Bettman was asked about buying a hockey franchise as an investment, and whether it would be a good business move.

“For most sports teams we probably do better than the Dow,” Bettman said. “It’s a good, stable investment.”

“We’ve had a different Stanley Cup champion each of the last eight years,” Bettman said.”We have a game now that probably has the best competitive balance in all of sports. We don’t take hockey fans for granted. We have the best sports fans in the world.”
