Since Robert Griffin III’s wedding registry went public earlier this month, the Washington Redskins quarterback has apparently been showered with gifts from fans.

RGIII, whose wedding date with Rebecca Liddicoat is set for July 6, tweeted a picture on Sunday to thank fans for buying all of the items on the couples’ Bed Bath & Beyond registry.

He then responded to criticism by clarifying that he never asked the fans to buy the items.

The 23-year-old has been engaged to Liddicoat, a Colorado native who he met at Baylor, since October 2010.

Griffin’s father said this week that the Offensive Rookie of the Year’s rehab from a torn ACL is going “extremely well.”

If it makes someone happy to buy a gift, more power to them. No one is saying that you or anyone else has to. Best wishes for him and his marriage in the future.

this is a new low of tacky.  did he accidentally let his bed bath & beyond site somehow slip out.  no way.  plus , he needs 150 $6.88 wlamart toasters.  one for every homeless person that will go hungry down by the river tonight.

What does he need with wedding gifts? He has plenty of money. This is all kinds of tacky.

@JasonMacBride So If you were invited to the wedding you wouldn't bring a gift? Now THAT'S tacky.

@Agiodello I am invited to the June wedding of a player in one of the four major US professional leagues. He makes less money than Griffin yet he and his fiance have stressed that they want no gifts, that their friends and family's company is enough. I will not take a gift and it will not be tacky.

Look at the engagement date you walking phallus. October 2010- most people date for roughly a year prior to engagement. That brings you back to 2009, maybe early 2010. He wasn't rich and there was o guarantee of money at that point.

@JasonMacBride  @Agiodello No. You're still tacky. And thinking  that you have to inform the public that you are supposedly invited to the wedding of a player in one of the four major U.S. professional leagues is tacky as well.
