Rays pitcher David Price leaves game with triceps injury
Rays manager Joel Maddon said after the Rays’ 9-2 loss that an MRI taken after the game showed “nothing serious,” but Price is expected to miss at least one start.
Price left the game in the top of the third inning after giving up a one-out RBI single to David Ortiz, which made the score 2-0. Price went 2 1/3 innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out one.
Price, the American League Cy Young Award winner last season, has given up 22 hits, and 15 earned runs in his last three contests and has been dealing with severe allergies. He is now 1-4 with a 5.24 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 55 innings this season.
