Receiver Titus Young reportedly arrested Friday for third time this week

Ex-Lions wide receiver Titus Young was arrested Friday night for the third time in less than a week, according to The Detroit News‘ Josh Katzenstein.

Young allegedly broke into a home in San Clemente, Calif., before police arrived at 11:30 p.m. He then fled from police on foot and, after being pursued, fought with officers.

Young, a Los Angeles native, has been charged with burglary, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest, according to the report. As of 1 p.m. Sunday he was in custody with bail set at $75,000.

He will be arraigned on Monday, according to the Detroit Free Press’ Dave Birkett:

From the Detroit News report, quoting Lt. Joe Balicki of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department:

“There was a brief struggle,” he said. “He wanted to fight with the deputies. They ended up subduing him.”

Neither Young nor the officers were injured in the struggle, Balicki said.

Young also was arrested twice in a span of less than 15 hours last Sunday in Moreno Valley, Calif. After police say he made an illegal left turn into oncoming traffic at 12:01 a.m., he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

At 2:22 p.m. the same day, Young was charged with burglary after he was seen jumping the fence of an impound lot to look for his black Ford Mustang, police said.

The Lions released Young, a second-round pick from Boise State in 2011, in February after numerous behavioral problems. He was claimed off waivers by the Rams and released 10 days later.

In his two NFL seasons, Young has caught 81 passes for 990 yards in 26 games.

Given his on-field and off-field problems, I wonder how many teams saw this coming and scratched him from their draft boards?

Last year a bunch of sites touted Young as a "sleeper" in Fantasy Football.

Glad I slept in him in my keeper league.  eesh...

Um, maybe they should just keep him in jail this time?  I mean, seriously.

Describing him as a "free' agent may soon be incorrect.

The last team he was with was the Rams.  How about the headline being "former Ram arrested..."

No wonder this guy is no longer in the NFL- when a policeman with a sugar powder mustache can catch and tackle you- you are tooo slow!

Does he have CTE or a brain tumor that's affecting his judgment and level of aggressiveness? Titus needs to be placed in protective custody and given a medical/psychological examination.

This guy needs professional help. I have no sympathy for a guy who pisses away a career most guys would kill for.

It makes me crazy to see someone throw away opportunities that thousands work for and can never quite reach. How can this guy be so stupid? My first thought is drugs, but I'm afraid he may just have NO sense at all. Jail is in his immediate future. And possibly his long term future.

how is he gonna outrun/jump/score Calvin Johnson?, he can't even run away from 3 or 4 overweight parking meter cops.

Can you say 'done' as a professional athlete?? No one on this planet will sign someone who's been arrested thrice in a week. This guy is going down fast. Sad.

@conor.t.mccartney  @doublejtrain68none what-so-ever.....it's self-inflicted....he wasn't born with problems or he wouldn't have gotten through college...it's most likely drugs that he willingly takes...

@UleNotknow  @hoosier0409 Unfortunately?  I'd hardly call anything regarding Titus Young as unfortunate.  More like STUPIDITY.  Outside of the fact that he pissed away a pro career and more than likely a free education, alot of people who "tussle" with cops end up dead, much less uninjured.  What's fortunate is that the cops have him alive and well instead of him eventually being found minus his head or other identifying body parts.
