Dwyane Wade expected to play Game 1 against Bulls

NBA

Heat guard Dwyane Wade has a bruised knee, but he has been fully participating in practice and says he’s “good to go” for Game 1 against the Chicago Bulls.

Since sweeping the Bucks, the Heat have had time to prepare for the second round of the NBA playoffs, giving Wade time to rest and work on his knee. Wade took nearly a week off of practices, returning May 3 and practicing through the weekend.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra has been cryptic about Wade’s health until this point, listing him as day-to-day. Wade went full-contact on Sunday’s practice and is fully expected to play Monday night. Unlike last year, when Wade played through the playoffs with a knee injury that required surgery, Wade only has a bone bruise that shouldn’t hinder his game-time performance.

The well-rested Heat will face the Chicago Bulls, who are just coming off a tough 7-game series against the Brooklyn Nets.

Miami, looking to defend its NBA title, are led by this year’s MVP and have a healthier roster than last year. The depleted Bulls have some key players on the roster due to injury and illness, including Kirk Hinrich, currently a game-time call, and Luol Deng, who has been in and out of the hospital.
