The Los Angeles Dodgers placed shortstop Hanley Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list with a hamstring injury, the team announced.

Ramirez strained his left hamstring in a 2-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Friday night after trying to run from first base to third in the sixth inning.

The team called up Dee Gordon from Triple-A Albuquerque to take his roster spot. Gordon was hitting .314 and led the Pacific Coast League with 14 stolen bases.

Ramirez was reinstated from the DL on Monday after surgery on his right thumb, which he hurt during the World Baseball Classic. He was hitting .455 with a home run in 12 plate appearances.

The Dodgers have gotten off to a slow start this season at 13-15, despite having the second-highest payroll in baseball.
