After a 6-10 2012 season, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan knows this may be his last opportunity to get the team back where it was when his first two seasons yielded two AFC Championship appearances.

If he can survive this season, Ryan has bigger ambitions saying he wants to coach the team “about another 20 years.”

Currently, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is the league’s longest tenured coach, having been with the team since 2000. Ryan will be entering his fifth season with the Jets and has a career record of 34-30.

“Obviously the results weren’t what we wanted last year, there’s no question about that,” Ryan said to WLNY-TV  “But I’m excited about this team going forward. One thing’s for certain: Whoever is on the field is going to have to earn their way on there through competition and I think that’s gonna ultimately really help out the team. I believe when we take the field opening day, our guys will be popping out of their skin ready to play.”

Knowing the dumbass Jets' ownership, he probably will.

Another 20 years?  Huh?  He'll be lucky to coach the Jets for another 2 years, and lots of people will think that is too much.

It only seems like he has been applying for the patriots next head coach job for the last two years.

Rex should just learn his lesson and stf up!  Stop playing to the media and prove it on the field.

I hope Sanchez plays for the Jets for 20 years because it's priceless every time I see Rex's face after Sanchez loses the football.
