Predators re-sign forward Patric Hornqvist
The Nashville Predators have re-signed forward Patric Hornqvist to a five-year, $21.25 million deal, the team announced Tuesday.
Hornqvist would have been a restricted free agent this offseason, and the Predators said bringing him back was a priority.
The 26-year-old winger from Sweden was the final pick of the 2005 NHL Draft. In his first full year in the league — the 2009-10 season — Hornqvist scored 30 goals and added 21 assists. The next two years, he again topped 20 goals.
Last season, Hornqvist battled injuries and scored only 14 points in 24 games. The Predators are counting on Hornqvist rebounding from the off-year and re-emerging as the team’s top scoring threat.
