Yankees infielder Kevin Youkilis likely to be placed on DL for back injury
Kevin Youkilis will likely head to the 15-day disabled list due to back problems, reports CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman. Youkilis has been struggling with a stiff lower back and had an MRI on Monday. The results showed no structural damage, but he will receive an epidural injection, a common method of treating inflammation.
The 34-year-old missed six games before returning to the lineup on Saturday; he hasn’t played since.
Youkilis signed a one-year contract with the Yankees as a replacement for the injured Alex Rodriguez. He is batting .266/.347/.422 in 17 games with the team so far. The majority of his time has been spent at third base, although he has played first in five games.
DL (with backdating) seems like for Youk. mri showed "no changes'' in back. will get shot.—
