J.J. Redick hasn’t spoken to Bucks coach during playoffs

J.J. Redick bounced back from poor shooting in Games 1 and 2 of the Bucks’ playoff series against the Heat by scoring 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting — including 3 of 6 three-pointers — in just 10 minutes of play in the first half of Miami’s win in Game 3 on Thursday.

That he got just seven minutes of floor time in the second half continued a series trend in which coach Jim Boylan has cut down Redick’s minutes. Boylan told the pregame media that he told Redick to continue to shoot with confidence — a fact Redick disputes. The shooting guard, who joined the Bucks in February via trade, went so far as to say he hasn’t talked to his coach since the series started.

“Jim never talked to me,” Redick said via the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “He didn’t say anything to me. I haven’t spoken to him during the playoffs. I did not get that message.

“I don’t need anybody telling me to be confident. I would have appreciated it.

“It wasn’t a matter of Jim or my dad or my wife or God saying be confident.

“Be on the court, take your shots. They’ll be there.”

Redick had little to add when asked about his reduced playing time.

“The rotation is the rotation,” Redick said.

Redick's regular season PER: 14.7.  (A PER of 15 is an average player.)  And he does not compensate on defense.  In fact, given his putrid D, he should put up LeBron James offense to compensate for his defense.  In the 4 playoff games he stepped up by putting up a PER of 8!  So what can the coach say to Redick to make JJ a useful player???  Redick was HALF of an average player during the playoffs!!  NUMBERS DON'T LIE.

The Milwaukee Bucks are quite simply the most horribly managed team in pro sports. Just God awful stupidity. You trade a young player YOU drafted for a pending free agent so you can make the playoffs to get killed by the Heat. And now you have a no shot at a lottery pick. Oh..but you made the playoffs. Whoopy! The only hope for the Bucks is to strip all dumb contracts...save money...be historically bad..get a top 3 pick or two over a 3 year period and draft a Tim Duncan type who will stay in town past his rookie deal. Only shot to ever be remotely relevant. Gotta be perfect on draft day and grow your own. Stop trading for other teams crap and paying it absurd money. Stop giving up on players you've never even played. Stop thinking just making the playoffs is enough or an accomplishment.

JJ, please consider coming back to the Magic. I know, at least, all of the fans really appreciated you.

How did Redick have a poor shooting night in Game 2? He was 1-for-1. Not his fault Boylan only played him eight minutes.

JJ may be one of the top 10 pure shooters from 30'+ of all time.......some of his 3 pointers are from "Way Downtown"

Someone will pay him the $6-8 Mil he has earned.......but they will probably actually play him a little.....I hope he ends up back in Orlando where he was dearly loved.....

@jgnaff  @JustinSchultz1 Nobody shoots regularly from SIX FEET behind the 3-point line enough to merit being in a "Top 10." And "pure shooter?" What is an impure shooter? Stands to reason anyone who regularly shoots enough 3s to justify being on a Top 10 list would be designated a "shooter."
