Barry Sanders wins ‘Madden NFL 25′ cover vote

NFL

Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders won the “Madden NFL 25″ cover vote for the popular video game, beating out Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson in the final round, EA Sports announced Wednesday night.

Sanders won by getting 58 percent of the more than 700,000 votes cast on the final matchup. Over 40 million votes were cast throughout the entire competition, according to ESPN.com. The game will be in stores August 27.

Sanders beat recently retired Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, as well as fellow Hall of Famers Joe Montana and Jerry Rice for the cover. Peterson is coming off a 2012 season where he ran for 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns, earning the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award.

Barry Sanders is more than deserving. I have always respected Sanders for not being one of those "me" athletes like Michael Jordan and Jerry Rice, the kind that just can't stop talking about themselves and the past. Sanders made his mark and then got on with his life.

I hope next generation, Microsoft ditches the lime green font they have going for something less garish. Then again, the typical Xbox 360 video gamer is a 8-14 year old boy who is obese, loves to swear like a sailor, thinks sleeping with somebody's mother qualifies as an insult, has no friends and spends triple the money a PS3 owner does on Xbox Live, proprietary peripherals and illegal devices so he can cheat on casual games like Call Of Duty. They don't care what color anything is as long as they can spend all night talking with other failed states who masturbate to the likes of Nicki Minaj and Megan Fox.

 @colonial1 No, that's pretty much the truth. It's the console of the weak-minded.

 @jaybrownexciter  So paying extra for online play, controller chargers or proprietary hard drives isn't considered stupid to you? Do people really get hard over playing first person shooters with adolescent boys in the U.S.?

@quimby

 I guess you have no qualms with an always-online video game console, eh? Do you enjoy having Microsoft siphoning your money when PS3 and PC players get free online or the ability to put in any hard drive they want? Do you enjoy Microsoft's condescending tone? Do you enjoy playing your games on shoddy hardware?

I guess you get off on playing Call Of Duty, Gears Of Wars and Halo with 11 year-old fartknockers from Arkansas with futures as obese McDonald's lifers or Internet poetasters.

 @brighat  @colonial1  Weak minded? You're the one who is petty enough to troll on a sports site trying to initiate a console war.
