Former West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith took to social media on Tuesday afternoon to once again slam draft critics who said he won’t make it in the NFL and who also criticized his skills and work ethic.

Smith is referring to a report in Pro Football Weekly published earlier this month that described him as “a cross between Akili Smith and Aaron Brooks, Smith is a gimmick, overhyped product of the system lacking the football savvy, work habits and focus to cement a starting job and could drain energy from a QB room.”

Smith said the report was “untrue in all things.”

The unflattering report also said Smith had a mild practice demeanor, no urgency and that he was not committed or focused and had a marginal work ethic.

Smith is expected to be one of the first quarterbacks taken in the Draft which starts Thursday.

Put a sock in your noise hole Geno. Nothing shuts up critics like performance, rookie.

Prove them wrong.

IF you can.

Pleeeeeasssse....yet another rookie coming into the league and starting off by telling us how great he is? As Toby Keith says, a little less talk and a lot more action.

Dude got slammed w/ the Black QBitis that a lot of pro football experts, scouts and writers throw out far too easily.  This kid can be successful I do believe, he throws a very nice deep ball and really can run w/ it, of course he shouldn't go crazy and protect himself.

Welcome to the new generation of saying everyone is wrong BEFORE you do ANYTHING.  Really difficult to pull for these airheads.

Pro Football Weekly is a terrific publication with a lot of well-connected reporters. Whatever they say is 99.9% of the time very representative of what actual NFL people think. Only problem is they don't print it anymore, and reading pdfs is just a pain. Internet is useful, but long live the printed publication.

Geno got some support from Aaron Rodgers.  I strongly encourage Geno to take a look at how Rodgers handled his first few years in the NFL, beginning with his draft stock plummeting unexpectedly.  By taking to social media, Geno is doing himself only more harm, proving to everybody that character concerns are valid.

Hey Geno, shut your mouth man.  It ain't gonna get you drafted and it won't get the ball down the field if you do get a chance.

How'd that special day work out for ya Gino? Maybe the experts know more than you do....

Look at the shape of Geno's head?  That dome does not shout out intelligence and leadership and smarts.

What Geno said is considered a "slam"? Wow.

Geno will be a bust.  The worst thing in the world for a QB is caring what other people think.

Geno will have a chance to prove his critics wrong when somebody drafts him but I agree with analysts who believe that he has some major flaws in his game. He's nowhere ready for the NFL; he needed another year at West Virginia. I'll trust Mike Mayock's opinion of Geno over Geno's opinion of himself. The guys who didn't go to Twitter/Facebook to say "I'll prove those b- wrong", like Colin Kaepernick, let their actions and play do the talking and then can sit back to hear Heath Evans say "I was wrong!". Geno's whining and crying and attention gigolo-ing on that blasted social media already adds another red flag to his rep.

BTW, I'm partial to Mayock because he refuses to use social media. He knows what it is, a dog-and-pony show full of look-at-me-I'm-Sandra Dee types and failed states who live vicariously through YouTube celebrities like Jenna Marbles. Old school.

Geno Smith crying about his passing game being picked apart is amusing.  The numbers recently broken down about his "passing" stats shed a lot of light on why his hype is funny - and the concern is legit.   A day or two ago, ESPN ran a stat check on Smith and found that his pass completion rate of 71% was largely attributable to his 7.7 yards per pass and over 120 screen passes.  120 screen passes!!!  No NFL team throws that many screens. Whoever drafts him, in order for him to be successful will have to revamp their offense to fit his skill set.

What about the combine and his Pro Day??  If I'm a potential NFL caliber QB, with a few months to prepare for the type of pass routes ran at the combine and then throwing to my WRs at a tightly scripted pro day, then I should be very good.

The proof will come when he has Haloti Ngata bearing down on him, while taking a snap from under center.

So basically, Smith should just remain quiet and keep working.

1.  Why doesn't he just shut up and wait to show people he's legit once he gets to the league?  I can't imagine this will help his draft stock.

2.  He seriously needs to consider going by Eugeno.  Not even Eugeno Smith.  Just Eugeno, like a Brazilian footballer.

@riley8 Yeah, you get labelled like that and see how defensive you become.

@Iowa Because 99.9% of the time actual NFL people are NEVER wrong, right???  LMAO, those goobers miss on more prospects than they're correct on.

@Samuel3 He's presenting the same image that Cam Newton momentarily did with his "icon & entertainer" quote. Alas, unlike Cam, he doesn't have the wits or the self-control to just STFU. SMDH. Dude, you're supposed to be a QB, not some loudmouth, easily bruised WR or CB. Suck it up. No one follows whiners or people who pick fights that they cannot possibly win with people who mean nothing to them or their future.

@Daniel19 Yeah, because they are never wrong, huh?  E.g. Dirty Sanchez?  LOLOLOLOL, you're a sheep that probably believes everything Mel Kiper, Jr and Todd McShay spit out.

@RobertJacke Please, child. Once he brought the twitterverse down upon himself, he guaranteed that they would pick him. Can't let the Giants suck up all the local drama.

@FajitaBob That's really "the worst thing in the world"?  Seems like a stretch.  Running out of toilet paper whilst pooping at work is worse.  What else is worse?  You.

 @brighat

Amen. Twitter is dumbing down this country one person at a time. One can instantly become more intelligent and better versed on pretty much everything by just avoiding Twitter.

@Ciscos You obviously haven't followed Alex Smith very closely, his high passing percentage mark is due to dumping the ball to secondary receivers.  But West Va didn't use screen passes like what you're saying, lol.  Utah passes and tosses, yes but the guy is a good passer.  Keep drinking the Haterade!

@Iowa It can be useful for something like getting Insider information from the NFL from Adam Schefter but most of the time, Twitter is just pointless babble and dumb Beliebers.

I made an error. Geno Smith is a senior and thus had completed his college career. However, you could have thought he came out early with his whining and crying as if he was trying to justify coming out early.

Ciscos
Ciscos

@clemente21 - Really? You must have been looking for something to talk about. Lol. I didn't say they were my stats. I did say ESPN talked about his stats and those were theirs. So perhaps the "haterade" is ESPNs. If you actually read my post, absent citing ESPN, I said the obvious 1. Stop crying. 2. Anyone having a pro day should look good! Heck JaMarcus Russell's pro day made him a no. 1 pick!!! And where is he now? 3. The proof of any college QB in the pros is having a large man like Ngata coming after you, week after week. 4. For him to be quiet and get to work. And I'm a hater? ROFL LMFAO... I think you need to look up the definition of being a hater. I'm far from it.
