David Ortiz at Red Sox pregame ceremony: ‘This is our [expletive] city’

Uncategorized

On an emotional day at Fenway Park, the Red Sox honored Boston Police officers, unveiled an American flag and honored Boston Marathon volunteers the day after the second suspect in Monday’s bombings was taken into custody.

Before Saturday’s afternoon game against the Kansas City Royals — the team’s first at home since the attack — the Sox also played a video tribute to victims and police and unveiled a “B Strong” sign on the Green Monster, while “U-S-A” chants broke out in the crowd.

Red Sox star David Ortiz delivered a strong message after taking the microphone for a pregame speech, announcing to the fans, “This is our [expletive] city.”

The game was originally scheduled for Friday night, but was cancelled due to the ongoing manhunt.

Big Papi isn't even a US citizen and he cares more for this country than those criticizing him. And all the progressive liberals can go straight to he11 for hating this country

MLB blocks video. Here I was almost interested in baseball.  Nice work.  When is the NFL Draft?

Words... they do not harm, they do nothing without meaning and intent.  It's pathetic and absurd that people are offended by... words.  There are NO bad words.  There are bad thoughts, bad intents, but no bad words.  In this case, David Ortiz used a word, and based on his meaning, his intent, it was a 'good' word that some sad folks think of as bad.

Nice guy Ortiz, but obviously not so bright if he's going to use the F word in front of 34000 people. WHAT A DOPE!

The guy says the F word in front of an entire stadium's worth of families and children and he gets a standing ovation... any other time and people would be calling for Ortiz's head on a plate.  Only in 'Merica...  where tragedy becomes celebration overnight...

Oh my God, those innocent people died horribly!!  "America... F**K YEAH!!! Comin' again to save the motherfuc*in day, yeah!!   America... F**K YEAH!!! Freedom is the only way, yeah!!   So lick my butt and suck on my balls..."

That's right any other time he would have been criticized and rightfully so. But this time, in this context, in the heat of the moment it is entirely appropriate. People who take issue fall in two categories, those that complained about the city being shut down during the man hunt because it was an inconvenience and those that don't know how to parent and explain to their children why what Ortiz said was ok, as apposed to when it is not ok.

@John64 You. . . are stunningly ignorant.  You are a captioned image of the moronic, unthinking 'Merica you are trying to mock.

Words are just words.  Words cannot hurt people.  Your childish reaction to a mere word is asinine.
