Boston Marathon bombing suspect in custody

The Boston Marathon bombing suspect is now in custody following a standoff with law enforcement in Watertown, Massachusetts on Friday night.The suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, survived a late-night firefight with police that resulted in the death of his brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev escaped from police following the late-night exchange.

The brothers are suspects in the bombing of the Boston Marathon on Monday. Two bombs detonated near the finish line at the Boston Marathon on Monday resulted in three deaths and injuries to 180 others.

Authorities in Boston shut down mass transit and warned residents to stay indoors while the manhunt for Tsarnaev continued into the evening. Shortly after lifting these restrictions, a flurry of sirens flooded the streets of Watertown.

Tsarnaev was found hiding in a boat stored in the backyard of a home in Watertown and was surrounded by federal and local law enforcement. He was brought into custody and was sent to Mount Auburn Hospital for treatment and is said to be “alive” and “conscious.”
