The New York Jets are pausing the Darrelle Revis talks, according to a report from ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio. It seems that the Jets are trying to squeeze more out of the Bucs, the only team pursuing Revis.

Per Peter King, the Bucs are offering first-, third- and fifth-round picks for Revis. Despite a perceived tension between the two teams over whether the first round pick would come in the 2013 or 2014 draft, the Bucs were willing to give up the first-rounder this year, the 13th overall selection.

It’s unlikely that the Jets will be keeping Revis; instead, Jets GM John Idzik is probably pushing the Bucs to see how much he can get for Revis.

The cornerback underwent surgery to repair his torn ACL back in October, and is scheduled to have an MRI some time on Monday. The results of the MRI could affect the way trade talks play out.

Isn't this the 4th or 5th time SI has run this story? I suspect it, like the laughable rumor that the Bucs offered three draft picks for Revis, are coming from the Jets front office. Only a fool would want a cancer like Revis on his team.

Now I get it.  Rumor has it they are trying to move Sanchez with Revis.  Dumping Tebow and picking Geno Smith.

Bucs are thumbing their noses at the Sanchez aspect so the Jets have halted it all for the time being.  Also, the MRI results were good.

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!!!   Now I know why they haven't pulled the trigger on this deal......  They are the New York Jets and would MUCH rather have a 3rd round supplemental pick next year where they can draft the 3rd string punter from Idaho Tech.

@ChuckVa8 I wrote below: the Jets are probably seeing positive signs on Revis' rehab. If the MRI comes in better than expected it might draw another team or two out of the woodwork.

@geeon1  @ChuckVa8   Could be, unless it's Cleveland MAYBE Philly, I can't see the offer getting any better than that.   And at $15M, they are NOT signing Revis so they have to deal.  The flip side is MAYBE, the Bucs give up a little more if the MRI is sound.

@ChuckVa8 Agree 100%, Jets have to act as soon as possible if theya re to rid themselves of Revis.

It is time for the Bucs to walk away from any trade for Revis. No one knows how good Revis will be after the ACL injury, he may only be a shadow of his former self. Use the 1st and extra 4th round pick to move up in the draft  a few spots to get Rhodes. Or their 1st 2nd and 4th to move up to get Milner.

@HarshRealities In reality, the Jets are seeing positive signs of his health and think a good MRI will enhance his trade value.

@geeon1  @HarshRealities Maybe, but a good MRI does not automatically mean an immediate return to top form.  I think the Jets need to be realistic--Revis is me-first guy, demanding huge money to sign long-term, coming off a major surgery, and nearing 30.  They ought to take whatever the one and only team pursuing him is offering and run with it, because the situation could just as easily turn worse for them as better.

@Steve27 @HarshRealities Not telling us anything we don't know. Revis is a ME guy. I am not so sure it is only one team. If healthy Revis is the top Cover Guy in the NFL today. All indications are pointing to a successful recovery. Like I said: The Jets need to make the move ASAP before bad news comes out.
