Trey Burke to enter NBA Draft, according to report

NBA

Michigan guard Trey Burke will forego his final two years of eligibility and enter the 2013 NBA Draft, Yahoo Sports Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Saturday.

Burke, a sophomore who was named The Associated Press’ college basketball player of the year, led the No. 4-seeded Wolverines on a wild ride to the NCAA championship game, where they finally fell to Louisville.

In 35.3 minutes per game this season, Burke averaged 18.6 points, 6.7 assists and 3.2 rebounds. He shot 46.3 percent from the field.

Burke is expected to be a lottery pick in the draft, and he could work his way up to a top-five selection. In a recent mock draft, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix projected that he would be the No. 5 pick.

When the college result is known before the tip off why should these guys stay? When there is no chance of refs letting your team win, why play in college?

When you win just about every college award, there's nowhere for your draft stock to go but down, so of course he should go pro.

Another mediocre player coming out in a weak draft. He wasn't dominant in the least in the NCAAs, how is he going to be a star in the NBA?

@WilyCoyoteSuperGenius If he can play relatively mistake-free and run an offense while not needing to be a scorer all the time, but can hit some big shots, which he did in the NCAA tourney, there's a team in the NBA that will be very happy to have him.

The big question is whether he's going to be able to defend bigger and faster players at the next level. Depends on whether his game can keep growing as much as it did between last year and this year.

But what about his studies?
