UConn unveils new Husky logo

NCAAB, NCAAF

The University of Connecticut on Thursday unveiled a new, more aggressive-looking logo its athletic teams will begin using next season.

The university announced the new logo on its UConn Today blog. It is part of a rebrand that also will use “UConn” as the “primary mark of the University in all signage, publications, advertising and marketing activities.”

“This logo is everything that a Husky is supposed to be – powerful, aggressive, determined,” said women’s basketball head coach Geno Auriemma, whose team won the national championship on Tuesday.

“It is looking right through you and saying, ‘Do not mess with me.’ This is a streamlined, fighting dog, and I cannot wait for it to be on our uniforms and court.”

UConn women’s basketball player Caroline Doty tweeted a photo of the new logo:

Looks exactly like my school's Wolves mascot, right here at West Georgia University, the same one they have had for the last five or six years. (Used to be the braves before the pc police got us)

They ripped-off the unused Quebec Nordiques 1995 logo.

That ought to help.  Wait.  No, it won't.

So basically just a slightly different version of the HBU logo?

It looks suspiciously like the Timberwolves animal.
