Report: Aaron Harang draws interest from Red Sox, Twins, Astros

The Boston Red Sox, Minnesota Twins and Houston Astros have all expressed interest in acquiring starter Aaron Harang, who was traded to the Colorado Rockies on Saturday and immediately designated for assignment.

Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported Sunday that the three teams were keying in on Harang, who was traded to the Rockies from the Los Angeles Dodgers for former All-Star catcher Ramon Hernandez. The Rockies designated Harang for assignment, meaning they have 10 days to trade him, release him or send him to the minors.

Rockies vice president of baseball operations Bill Geivett hinted that the Rockies preferred to flip Harang and obtain something in return.

“We know (the Dodgers) were talking to a number of clubs and I spoke with Aaron’s agent. We’ll begin those discussions now,” Geivett said Saturday.

Harang, who will soon be 35, was supplanted in Los Angeles by a deep group of starting pitchers. He hadn’t appeared in a game for the Dodgers this season before getting traded. He was 10-10 with a 3.61 ERA in 31 starts last year with the Dodgers.

don't know much about harang, but if a trade is in the works, it is just a good reason the dodgers traded him. age no factor as pitchers last a longer time now. damaged goods?

@CharlesTerrito The Dodgers had 8 starters on their roster, they aren't done trading, but they need to move guys to free up 40 man roster space for people coming off the DL and or to call up Puig.
