Former West Virginia dual-threat quarterback Pat White will reportedly make his return to the NFL by signing with the Redskins, according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.

White, who has not played in the NFL since his 2009 rookie season with the Dolphins, was attempting a comeback with an eye on the league’s latest read-option offense trend.

After working out for the 49ers last week — before the team traded for Browns quarterback Colt McCoy — White reportedly cancelled a visit with the Giants because of the Redskins’ increased interest. The Giants were believed to be interested in White helping their defenses prepare for NFC East read-option offenses in Washington and Philadelphia.

Robert Griffin III’s recovery from knee surgery could provide White with more opportunities to show his value to the Redskins and other NFL teams during the offseason and preseason games.

If anything he will prove as a good practics squad QB for the REDSKINS....its hard to emulate the read-option in practice without the right players....and given the Redskins schedule. Hell...if he is able to prove he has NFL level talent.....he could be traded as QB is such a valuable commodity these days.

Low risk-High Reward.

Is it fair to call him a bust?  Did anyone really believe he was going to be a great NFL player, especially considering he barely played?  I mean, cool that he gets another shot, but Miami seemed to dump him pretty fast.
