Carson Palmer dines with Cardinal executives, may be close to deal

Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer had dinner with Cardinal executives in Phoenix on Monday night, according to the Arizona Republic’s Kent Somers. While there has been no indication of how close the two sides are to a deal, the meeting is a positive sign.

Palmer, 33, started in 15 games for the Raiders last season. He had 4,018 yards (61.1% comp) with 22 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. There were earlier reports that Palmer might prefer a backup role with a contending team rather than make more money as a starter with the Raiders. He is set to make $13 million this season.

As outlandish as this sounds, assuming that Carson Palmer ends up in Phoenix, he and Drew Stanton vastly improve the Cardinals at QB.   Don't know if that says more about the Palmer/Stanton duo, or how incredibly bad the Cards were at QB last year.
