Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant had a breakout 2012 season, catching 92 passes for 1,382 yards and 12 touchdowns, including catching 50 passes for 879 yards and 10 touchdowns in the final eight games of the season.

He is setting his sights on even loftier goals for 2013: 2,000 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns.

“That’s still scratching the surface,” Bryant said to ESPNDallas.com. “It’s only going to get better, to be honest. I still have a lot to give. I feel like nobody’s seen anything.  I feel like it can be a lot more than that. That’s just being honest. I honestly feel like [2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns] can potentially happen.”

Bryant played the last three games of the season with a broken index finger that required surgery this offseason and says that he is more mature and plans to take a leadership role this season.

“That’s all having to do with understanding me being a Dallas Cowboy, me knowing who I am as a person, just understanding that I’m a grown man,” Bryant said. “It’s time to be a leader. It’s time to step up and just do what you need to do. Hold yourself accountable.”

2000 yards!dream on, braggart. guarantee a season ending injury is in store for this me player. defenses will hurt him purposely. i will laugh uncontrollably when this happens.

Once I was eyeing mogul skiing with Dolly Parton, but we know how that turned out...  Dez back off the meds, Romo is still the Cowballs QB.

2,000 yards receiving and he'll be watching the playoffs AGAIN.  He should ask Calvin Johnson how he feels about all those yards with nothing to show for it.

Geez, it only took him this long to figure it out.  LOL

Too bad he didn't eye more W's for the 'Boys.  Too much focus on individual goals makes for a fantasy team that loses on the field.

2000 yards and 20 TD's? Not with Romo as your QB. I think someone is choking in Dallas, oh wait it's just Romo.

Last time I checked, the only WR capable of such was named Megatron.  Dez-aster, stop making me laugh.

1400 yards and 14 TDs is far more likely. Also look for the Cowboys to miss the playoffs in 2013.

And we have an early leader for the goal least likely to be achieved this season.

Good luck just staying out of trouble much less reaching these goals. I see a 7-9 season in your team's immediate future.

Football players are funny.  They have these TINY little walnut brains but everyone wants to pay them a fortune.  How amusing.

@JUSTINL Romo, Dez and the Cowboys can put up stats, just not wins.  TR was 3rd in the league in yards, just 64 behind Stafford and 244 behind Brees ... two more QBs who did not get teams into the playoffs.  So Dez can post yards and maybe TD's ... just not wins.

@LeilaniHernandez Uh, if individuals are reaching their goals, the team may have a better shot of reaching its goals.

 @EasyGoer

Maybe, but if the defense stays healthy for a change and they add one OL, things may be different.

@LeilaniHernandez  @vanman  @EasyGoer I have to choke this out as I say it, but, you could have added a few more teams to that list.

Classic case of team being told (and believing)  that it's better than it really is. So they lock themselves into mediocre players and don't address (or now, can't) the needs that an unbiased opinion would show them are there.

Gonna be a long year in "Big D"...but hey...""any given Sunday"  right?
