Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel has been all over the news lately for living the life of a Heisman Trophy winning player. Now, he is getting back to football and things have gotten off to a rocky start.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Manziel threw three interceptions during a scrimmage in front of 2,000 fans last Saturday and he wasn’t at all happy about it when he got to the sidelines where he met up with a happy graduate assistant. That’s when things got heated.

“Following his last of three interceptions, on a short pass into the end zone as he ran into the right sidelines, an exuberant graduate assistant jumped up and down within what appeared to be inches of an irate Manziel. So Manziel shoved him. Players and coaches, who were all gathered along the sidelines, quickly separated the giddy GA and Manziel before anything escalated.”

The next time Manziel takes the field it will be front of ESPN cameras on April 13 for the team’s annual Maroon & White Game.

Let's try the best possible construction on this:  The graduate assistant was thinking, "Whoa, awesome.. we've got a defense that can stop Johnny Manziel cold."

Shoving a GA is "competitive"? Pointing out that someone acted like a jerk is "being a hater"?

Manziel has managed to convert a storybook season into a media disaster. Few players have managed to translate so much on-field success into so many not-ready-for-primetime stories off of it. Prediction: we're going to see Manziel at a few hospitals this summer and interviews about how much he has matured in the wake of so much celebrity.

I saw what happened and the fact that it made CNNSI is a joke. There is nothing wrong with being competitive and in this case it wasn't even a bad deal. The article also forgot to say that Manziel scored 7 Tds on the day and had over 400 yards of offense and wasn't allowed to scramble. But keep on hatin'.

Can't somebody at A&M just beat the hell out of moon beam face manziel???

I read the shortened title on the SI homepage, "Manziel shoves GA after throwing an interception" and naturally assumed he shoved the entire state of Georgia after they tried to steal his water - which they've been trying a lot lately.

someone ought to just punch Manziels round face in.

The irony here is that this happens at the same time that fans are bitchin' that the game is being sissified with tougher rules that restrict contact. This also comes at a time when many of us question the media making much ado about nothing because they're too lazy to find anything significant to write about.

(And no, I'm NOT for Texas. Thanks for askin' though.)

Horrible! What's next? If it happens in a game, he'll tackle the defensive player?

I like to like success and I try to like him but every time I turn around there's another reason to just completely dislike this kid.  I also agree with the comment below, Johnny Boy has "One Hit Wonder" written all over him.

@PhD2014 Whenever people say somebody is "hatin", I can't help but picture some fat pregnant 13 year old girl on the Maury Povich show flipping off the audience screaming, "yall just haters.... (beep) you people... yall just jealous... keep hatin yall"

@joeshine730 Why don't you? Or, would you rather have someone else fight your battles for you??

@PWINGS he did that last year already - on a fumble recovery, he chased down the defender that had the ball, stripped it loose, and then tackled the second defender who picked it up

and just wondering, were you trying to say "And no, I'm NOT from Texas."

@Soonermike1 So .... someone remind me, I'm a bit forgetful these days.  Who was it that totally handed  Oklahoma their  ***** in the Cotton Bowl.  41-13 I believe.

@Soonermike1 No one with a handle like "Soonermike1" should be taken seriously.  Ever.  About anything.

@donald5  Thanks a lot.  Now that's what I'M going to be thinking of whenever someone says hatin'.

@stabmasterarson21  @PWINGS He said nothing about UT.  You are aware of multiple universities being in Texas, right?  Better to appear a fool, than post a comment and remove all doubt.

@pandah462  @Soonermike1 especially after manziel "one hit wondered" OU up, down and all over the cotton bowl - left the fans, players and coaching staff all wondering - dont hate mike, tell your f'ball team to play better!~
