Elvis has left the building. But he might return.
Denver Broncos head coach John Fox said Tuesday that Elvis Dumervil is “definitely in the mix” for a possible return to the team. The news comes less than a week after the defensive end and his agent failed to submit a signed, renegotiated contract by a 2 p.m. deadline.
Since then, the Pro Bowler has parted ways with his agent and has drawn interest from a number of teams including the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers.
But according to a report Tuesday from Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post, Fox is talking to the three-time Pro Bowler about bringing him back to the team:
“He’s definitely in the mix. He’s a player I know I’ve enjoyed coaching, he’s done good things for our staff, defensively, our football team. He’s definitely a guy who is in the mix for us, will be in the mix, should be in the mix. And we’ll see where that takes us.”
Dumervil, 29, finished third in voting last season for Defensive Player of the Year. Last season for the Broncos, he recorded 11 sacks, 54 total tackles, a safety and six forced fumbles.
