Major League Baseball is cracking down on players who have used or are speculated of having used performance enhancing drugs and has Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun and New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez “strongly in their sights,” reports ESPN.com’s T.J. Quinn.

Rodriguez and Braun have been linked to the Biogenesis clinic in South Florida run by Dr. Anthony Bosch, who is accused of peddling PEDs to players.

This week, minor leaguer Cesar Carrillo received a 100-game suspension for his Biogenesis ties.

A report in the Miami New Times last month showed numerous players had contact with the clinic, prompting MLB to start an investigation. But the paper decided not to cooperate with the investigation and refused to turn over the documents.

Braun was already suspended once for PED use before the 2012 season, before having it overturned due to a technicality involving his test sample. In 2009, A-Rod admitted to having used PEDs earlier in his career, but was never suspended because it occurred prior to MLB’s current testing program.

Aroid has really turned out to be a huge POS..........almost as big as Roidger Clemens.  Baseball doesn't need any of these idiots.  All this PED mess really make old Pete Rose look a little less toxic doesn't it?

The fact that Braun may be lost is obviously a much bigger hit to not only the Brewers, but to all of baseball....if he was doing it then who wasn't?

By the way here is the preview for the National League Central.  Who is going to come out on top?

Who is Braun...Jesus Christ?? He has been linked to 'roids more than anybody else the past year! Manny just called & said Braun should step back from the juice! If not for a technicality he would be missing the 1st 50 games of this season. His test wasn't negative, they just handed it to the wrong guy from point A to B. The seal was never broken. Tired of everybody trying to paint this cheater as a saint.

Agreed.  When Braun got caught, there really wasn't a whole lot of surprise (outside of Milwaukee).  His power numbers had been going up, he was getting a bit bigger...the only real surprise was that MLB didn't test him before he was named MVP.

"Major League Baseball is cracking down on players who have used or are speculated of having used performance enhancing drugs"

No, they're not. They're stonewalling, hoping that this latest storm blows itself out, just like they've done before. We're now more than a dozen years into the Steroid Era ... why are we still reading that MLB "is cracking down"? If they seriously wanted to "crack down" they could have done it long before now.

But Bud is deathly afraid of the union. He's more afraid of the union than he is of public opinion about PED use. So he stonewalls, thereby avoiding a union confrontation on his watch, which will be up before long.

"Penal" program ?!? So either MLB is now running its own jails or this has something to do with the male member ? And "technicality issue" ? It's either a technicality or a technical issue. It can't be both. Terrible copy editing !
