Report: Ahmad Bradshaw draws interest from Steelers, Packers

NFL

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers have expressed interest in signing free-agent running back Ahmad Bradshaw, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday.

The New York Giants released Bradshaw, a six-year veteran, in early February, turning their lead running back spot over to David Wilson. Both the Steelers and Packers are looking for depth at the running back position. The Steelers lost Rashard Mendenhall to the Arizona Cardinals. The Packers, meanwhile, have been linked to free agents Peyton Hillis and Steven Jackson, who signed with the Atlanta Falcons last week.

Bradshaw, who will soon turn 27, underwent surgery on his right foot after the season, but if he returns to full strength he could be a major bargain. In 14 games with the Giants last season, he carried the ball 221 times for 1,015 yards, a 4.6-yard average. He also had 23 receptions for 245 yards.

I got excited when I saw the headline. For a minute I thought the Steelers were bringing back Terry Bradshaw.  He was/is my favorite qb ever. Oh well.

As a Jets fan i'm very concerned that we seem to have no interest in free agency.  Didn't Osi say he wanted to come play for the Jets?  That won't happen either.  This year sucks.  We better clean up the cap and get some good draft picks in exchange for the Island.  It's rebuilding time.  :(The freaking Giants NEVER are in rebuilding mode.  Freaks even competed with Kerry Collins.

@jaykahl Jay - The Giants have a better coach than you guys do.  That's part of it.

@Nine Vegetable in this case i think it is more about the GMs and the cap.  or the Mara's philosophy regarding free agency.  after all compare Parcell and Belicek coaching the Giants vs when they coached the Jets.
