Report: Cardinals to release Kevin Kolb after failing to rework contract

The Arizona Cardinals will release Kevin Kolb after they were unable to agree on a restructured contract for 2013, according to Adam Caplan.

The move by the Cardinals and new head coach Bruce Arians was expected. Kolb should attract interest from several NFL teams still in the market for a backup quarterback.

Kolb came to the Cardinals from the Eagles in exchange for Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round pick in 2011. He has failed to live up to a six-year, $63 million deal ($20 million guaranteed) while producing a passer rating of 83.2 in just 15 games with the Cardinals.
