A proposal to rename a Green Bay street after Packers receiver Donald Driver is close to being passed, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette. The city’s Plan Commission voted unanimously on Monday to rename a portion of Pearl Street downtown to “Donald Driver Way.” The measure will be put before the City Council which will have the final say later this month.
The plans for the street renaming were announced on Feb. 6 by Mayor Jim Schmitt during Driver’s retirement ceremony at Lambeau Field.
Driver was drafted by the Packers in the seventh round (213th overall) of the 1999 draft. He spent the entirety of his 14-year career with Green Bay and had a total of 10,137 yards with 61 touchdowns.
