Since being charged with premeditated murder for his girlfriend’s Valentine’s Day shooting death, Oscar Pistorius has become a “broken man” who is “on the verge of suicide,” close friend Mike Azzie told BBC.

Azzie provided insight into Pistorius’ condition during an interview for the upcoming documentary titled “Oscar Pistorius: What Really Happened?” which BBC will air on Monday, according to the Mirror Online.

Azzie, a racing horse trainer and close family friend, also revealed that the South African sprinter still often talks about his girlfriend, 29-year-old Reeva Steenkamp, and has asked friends to pray for her.

“He’s just like someone walking around in circles.

“He doesn’t know where he is going. I would say that, just by speaking to him, he is a broken man.

“I’d go as far as to say he would be on the verge of suicide.

“It really worries me. I get the feeling that he’s really hurting and he’s an inkling of the man that he used to be.”

The documentary will detail the procedural side of the case as well as offer a look at how Pistorius has coped with it, including his immediate reaction upon being arrested.

Among the revelations is how Pistorius, 26, showed bravado after he was arrested over the Valentine’s Day shooting and told police: “I’ll survive. I always win.”

It was his response to a senior officer who had warned him: “You could go to jail for a very long time, Oscar.”

Pistorius’ next court appearance is scheduled for June 4.

if he is guilty then he gets not a drop of sympathy from me. on the other hand if he is indeed innocent then he should deal with the pressure until hes hopefully aquitted. if hes not guilty he nshouldnt even think of suicide then everyone will think hes guilty anyway

Pistorius made his decision 4 times in drilling the broad with lead. It's not like the guy ever won a big race or anything. It's South africa  it don't matter.

Anyone remember those rat movies like Willard and Ben? Oscar should be caged without his legs with a few hungry rats. He would still stand a better chance of 'winning' than he gave his gf Reeva.

Take his Pistorius' legs away and ban him from ever wearing legs again.  Then make him a lawn ornament in the murder girls families yard.

Cruel trick, taking away one of his legs...

Mike Azzie is no more than a casual business acquaintance of Oscar Pistorius.  He is a friend of Kevin Lerena who two weeks ago was on US TV claiming to be Oscar Pistorius' best friend and is nothing more than the ex of a friend of Reeva Steenkamp.  In addition to the car salesman and his biker mate who have also both claimed to be Oscar Pistorius' best friend since the start of this case.  Interestingly, his real best friend has refused to prostitiute himself to the media.

Perhaps Azzie would have cared to have been more accurate and given the real reason of Pistorius selling his shares in the racehorse (which he in fact did back in December).  As for property sale, Pistorius put his house on the market in December as he had planned to move back to Johannesburg.

Pistorius has applied for relaxation of some of his bail conditions, amongst other things to allow him to travel.  Broken I have no doubt that he is but suicidal ........ and broke?  Not really consistent with his application, is it?

Even if it was an accident, which I do not believe, who starts blasting into a bathroom, without any attempt to find out who it is?  If someone's gonna attack you or steal from you, etc they're not gonna take that approach.

If the shooting happened the way Pistorius testified, even if acquitted of murder charges, the former Olympian will live with the knowledge that he killed the love of his life.   That has to be a soul-crushing realization.  A nightmare from which he cannot wake up.

Is he a convicted murderer? No. I say, let him have his day in court. If he did it than please remember that "an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind". If he didn't than my heart goes out to him in this difficult time. One murder does not justify another.

He's a wretched, wretched person. Someone lead him to the building's edge, and turn the other way

“I’ll survive. I always win.” I don't buy this new story. This is the defense trying to build sympathy.

I wonder how Reeva's family can tolerate this BS. In the US, the judge would have a gag order to prevent Oscar from tainting the jury pool. All he has to taint in SA is the judge who will hear his case - no jury.

a true coward...never would have the guts to kill himself.

Someone get him a razor blade or a bottle of sleeping pills. He brutally murdered her and now has the gall to try and pretend he is some sort of victim.

Why can't the suicide precede the murder of the innocent victim? He was a "broken man" when he mercilessly shot his victim to death, when he thought guns would solve his problems, when his emotions ruled over any logic he possessed, when he acted like a little boy and didn't really grow up to be a man. And mostly, when he thought he could "win" everything instead of learning to be on the same level as those he was in relationship with.

What's he need, the only way out???

Another part of a desperate PR campaign. They're going to try to make him out to be the victim.

The guilt is weighing heavy on Oscar. He ruined many peoples lives. For what really?

@stabmasterarson21

I’m glad you’re able to be so sure how you would react in a situation that you probably haven’t even been in.  He didn't try to find out who it was?  Did you actually listen or have you made any attempt to read his affidavit (easy to find on line)?  Take that approach? So no one has ever broken into a house through a bathroom window?  So if you hear the homeowner approaching, it's not logical to lock the room that you are already in?

@hitchworlder He is going to get his trial. And if the judge is bribed he might walk, sort of. But he murdered her. I have read the accounts of what happened. He cannot talk his way out of it.

@Belinda  @stabmasterarson21 Belinda, get a grip!  He's a liar.  You are just delusional, so there's hope for you with some serious therapy.

@6marK6  @hitchworlder do I think he did it? It doesn't matter what I think honestly. All that matter is that this man gets his day in court and that it's a fair day in court. Not fair and he gets executed for a crime he didn't commit and not fair and he walks off for bribing his way out of it. So many times we jump and quickly judge someone just because one side of it is shoved down our throats in the news. The point is that a woman died here and no amount of jail time or executions or anything else will get her back. My heart goes out to her family and friends.
