Report: Delonte West to report to NBA D-League’s Texas Legends
A month after he backed out of his contract with the NBA D-League’s Texas Legends, Delonte West has reconsidered his stance and decided to report to the team on Monday in hopes of finding a path back to the NBA, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojanrowski.
The troubled guard signed his deal on Jan. 25, but did not report to the Legends. He changed his mind when he realized that the D-League will provide his only chance at returning to the NBA, according to the report.
West, 29, last played for the Dallas Mavericks last season and has spent most of his eight-year career with the Celtics and Cavaliers, averaging 9.7 points. Teams are wary of signing him because of his bipolar disorder and past troubles.
The Mavericks released West after locker room incidents with teammates in the preseason. He played an important role for Dallas a season ago on a one-year contract. While the Legends are affiliated with the Mavericks, Dallas owner Mark Cuban has no intention of re-signing West. Any NBA team would be able to call him up to the NBA.
Since his release, West has been unable to find an NBA team willing to sign him.
