Report: St. John’s suspends captain D’Angelo Harrison for season

Uncategorized

St. John’s has suspended star guard and captain D’Angelo Harrison for the rest of the season for conduct detrimental to the team, according to Lenn Robbins of the New York Post.

Harrison, who was averaging 18.2 points per game in his sophomore season, is reportedly considering leaving the St. John’s program.

As a freshman, Harrison became known for his collection of tattoos and causing St. John’s coaches and officials some concern for his behavior on and off the court.

Last season Harrison made life miserable on opponents, averaging 17 points and draining 76 3-pointers. But he also made life miserable on officials with his constant gestures, stares and chatter. The men in blue showed remarkable restraint, handing him just one technical foul.

As the Red Storm head into league play, Harrison must maintain his composure. With Moe Harkless having left after his freshman season for the NBA, Harrison will be the player opposing defenses key on. He said he knows when he’s starting to tick.

The Red Storm is 16-12 this season and could be a question mark for the NCAA tournament without Harrison in the lineup.
