Colts will use franchise tag on punter Pat McAfee
The Indianapolis Colts will use the franchise tag on punter Pat McAfee.
McAfee said in a statement that he hopes to stay with the Colts forever, but one more guaranteed year is a start.
“It’s an honor to know that I’ll be a member of the Indianapolis Colts for at least another year,” said McAfee. “I love the city, I love the team, and I love being a member of the community. I obviously hope to work out a long-term deal to stay here forever, but one more guaranteed year is awesome. Go Colts.”
McAfee was selected in the seventh round by the Colts in 2009 and has totaled 290 punts for a 45.5 average, a franchise record. In 2012, McAfee set several franchise single-season records with a 48.2 punting average, 40.3 net punting average, and five 50-yard average games.
