Supporters of Kansas basketball have not taken too lightly to the new “custom impact camo” Jayhawks uniforms introduced on Thursday by Adidas.
The fans have officially created a White House petition to the Obama administration to stop players from having to wear the uniforms as the No. 6 Jayhawks get ready for the upcoming NCAA March Madness tournament. The message is clear:
“Adidas has designed uniforms for KU basketball that are stylistically heinous and tarnish a venerated institution.”
The petition urges people to stand up for a return to the current uniforms, which are typically crimson, blue and white. Creators of the petition want people to sign it for “a coherent color scheme” and for “the spirit” of NBA Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain, who went to Kansas in the 1950s before getting drafted by the Philadelphia Warriors in 1959.
A whitehouse.gov account is required to sign the petition. As of Thursday afternoon, there were 131 signatures attached to the cause. According to the White House site, once it reaches 150 signatures, it becomes publicly searchable on WhiteHouse.gov.
