Ohio State coach Urban Meyer says he doesn’t like the rules set forth by the NCAA proposal that allows coaches unlimited contact with recruits through social media as well on removing limits on printed recruited materials.

Ohio State, who some recruiting pundits have said has the No. 3 recruiting class this season, said he would rather keep the current rules in place and concentrate on cleaning up the enforcement process. Ohio State did not participate in a bowl last season because they were banned the NCAA for rules violations under previous coach Jim Tressel.

“Bad stuff,” Meyer said during his signing day news conference on Wednesday, via ESPN.com.  “That’s stuff that we’re going to have to talk [about], the Big Ten Conference is going to meet and I’m putting together a personal letter to all the coaches in America that I disagree with most of it. I would imagine not many people who have recruited wrote those [rules].

“That’s my question: Who comes up with that? Have they actually got in a car and went and recruited sophomores in high school?”, Meyer said. “Think about this for a second — unlimited mailings and you can mail them whatever you want. Take a deep breath and whoever said that, put that in motion, could you imagine what’s going to be rolling into kids’ driveways? Fatheads and magnets — nonsense.”

Urban is just upset that this levels the playing field. Recruiting could be more challenging if everyone is allowed to do HALF of what he does.

Meyer prefers the old tried and true method of buying the athlete and their families.

Urban is exactly correct in his criticism of this new rule . Oh , and I know all of your schools are Jealous that they don't have URBAN MEYER coaching their teams . He will "Rule the Roost " for many years to come - deal with it people !!

My My, Imagine OS complaining about a rule. They have broken so many starting with the schools president down to the head football coach - Tressel -  they still don't get it.  As for Urban, he inherited a bunch of good players and acts like he was the reason they won them all, time will tell. For some reason OS and the NCAA sleep in the same bed, it wouldn,t surprise if Urban's complaint will be heard.

Bad stuff? Maybe becasue now that every coach is allowed to do it he won't have an edge.

also, urban had a team ready-made for him in columbus, and still had to squeak out a few wins that he got lucky in.  He barely beat a tsun team that was still figuring out a new qb - and had no legit RB

urban will sooner or later be exposed for what he is - good recruiter, but always relied on other stud coaches... he'll have good teams, but hes not the god you all blindly believe he is

@chillwill lol yet another OSU homer who vastly overestimates urban's skill as a coach.... hes a very good coach, yes - but all you that are bowing down like blind robots at his idol - are vastly overdoing it
