During an altercation that broke out last night after Ed Reed’s interception, Cary Williams clearly shoved a ref with two hands. He could have been ejected immediately for shoving the ref, but got away without even a penalty flag.

Williams said he didn’t know who he was pushing, his helmet had been kicked off and he could barely see.

“It was a situation where I didn’t see who the heck I pushed. Those guys kicked my helmet off, took my helmet off man, it’s just a part of the process. Whatever,” Williams said. “It’s a reaction. You see teammates out there getting hit late, guys pulling guys after the whistle. My helmet came off, I couldn’t barely see, and I just reacted. It is what it is.”

The fight was the result of nearly a half unchecked play, with tension building on both sides because the officials didn’t have control of the game. Williams called the 49ers “a little dirty,” and said it was part of the Ravens defense to show toughness.

“I mean, I just felt like those guys were a little dirty. The refs should have thrown flags on them early on them in the game to stop that junk,” Williams said. “Sometimes you’ve got to retaliate, sometimes you have to show people we aren’t going to be pushed around.”

Bad part about it is that he shoved a second referee later during the same melee.

In his defense it is a lot harder to see when you're not wearing your helmet, oh wait...

Williams should have been ejected but he didn't even get penalized!!! To make it worse refs took the easy way out and called penalties on both teams. Hope NFL execs have a word with refs and we don't see such a cop-out in the future.

bbc It does not matter if he knew who he shoved or not.  Two hands to the chest of a referee is an ejection, and since he was allowed to play, the NFL should at least levy a heavy financial penalty like his SuperBowl bonus.

What a moron. I'm sure he was completely oblivious to everything and anyone around him, except for his "homies". If it weren't for football the majority of the Raven's roster would be standing on a downtown street corner in that shithole they call, "Charm City". These guys are given the opportunity of a lifetime and once there, they believe they're above the rules. On and off the field.

Why don't you cite some examples or evidence of your claims big mouth...You talk a lot of smack, but do you really have a clue?

@4kids4life ...and you're teaching your 4 kids the nonsense you portray as logic. I feel the most sorry for them...a life of distorted life perspectives from daddy. Hopefully they'll be able to unlearn your life-lessons as adults...

4kids4life I know this kid personally. I don't condone what he did (and his Pastor called him and fussed him out for it), but this is a quality young man. Folks need to stop passing judgement om people because of one incident. Yes, Cary was wrong, WAY wrong, but he is neither a moron nor a bad seed. And by the way, he hags with his "homies"  at church services!

Funny...it was the 49ers tryng to be baby thugs all night long and never got called on it. Din't work - they found out who is tougher...real fast.  Jimmy boy is going to cry about that call but, he clearly is willing to accept all the non-calls his babies got during the rest of the game...and those boys were coached to do exactly what they got away with.

knowingly or unknowingly breaking the rules should not matter.  Evidently the referee thought it was too early to take a player out of a championship game.

Sorry, I don't buy that he didn't know who he shoved.
