Niners’ Chris Culliver apologizes for homophobic remarks

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver apologized Wednesday for comments he made regarding not wanting to have a homosexual teammate in the locker room.
SI.com’s Jim Trotter tweeted out Culliver’s apology.
“The derogatory comments I made yesterday were a reflection of thoughts in my head, but they are not how I feel. It has taken me seeing them in print to realize that they are hurtful and ugly. Those discriminating feelings are truly not in my heart. Further, I apologize to those who I have hurt and offended, and I pledge to learn and grow from this experience,” Culliver said in a statement.
Culliver was asked in a radio interview how he felt about having a gay teammate. The team later rejected those comments saying the organization is “no place for discrimination within our organization at any level. We have and always will proudly support the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community.”
“I don’t do the gay guys man, I don’t do that. Nah, we ain’t got no gay people on the team. They gotta get up outta here if they do. Can’t be with that sweet stuff. Nah, can’t be in the locker room,” Culliver said.

LikeI think most of us could have predicted this exact apology after his ignorant comments were made made public yesterday. He may not be at all sincere in the apology, but it's important that it's clear hateful comments aren't permissible in public discourse. He embarrassed himself and his team. And maybe, just maybe, he'll think twice about idiotic remarks in the future.

LikeI amazingly had an epiphany and a complete evolution on my thoughts and feelings regarding homosexuality over the past 12 or so hours. I know it is unbelievable but the person I am today is a complete different person now than I was yesterday. I apologize greatly for the disgusting person I was. Thank you .

LikeWe need to get over the same sex and opposite sex attraction bigotry. Just because a man or woman is sexually attracted to men or women or both, it seems bigoted that he or she shouldn't be allowed to be in the same locker room or rest room. I've been to uni-sex restrooms in Holland, men and women sharing freely. I'd love to be able to go to women's locker rooms - but I think women are heterophobes, or male ophobes...

I don't think anyone will dispute the point about pleasure. However, Genesis:18,10-13 is an example of a more proper sexual relationship.
