Former No. 1 overall pick Greg Oden is hoping to meet with Heat president Pat Riley at some point over the next week as the oft-injured star is reportedly deciding between joining LeBron James in Miami or playing alongside the reigning Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving in Cleveland.
According to a report Tuesday from Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports, Oden is entertaining offers from a number of NBA teams. The Boston Celtics are also in the mix as the team moves forward without Rajon Rondo for the rest of the season, but according to sources Oden is leaning towards playing with the Cavs or Heat.
The Heat would likely offer only a veterans minimum contract but the Cavs could entice Oden with a contract of nearly $4 million for next year. Earlier in January, it was reported that the Dallas Mavericks were also in contact with him.
Oden was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers as the only player ahead of Kevin Durant in the 2007 NBA Draft but has played in a total of 82 games because of multiple knee surgeries. Most recently, he had his third microfracture surgery in February 2012. For his career, he has averaged 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks. He is currently working out in Ohio and Indiana and said he expects to be ready for the season-opener next fall.

LikeOdgen is the poor, poor man's Andrew Bynum. He needs to prove himself. Any team that would
give him more than the veterans minimum is either desparate or very foolish

LikeGood luck Greg! I hope you can play again and why not! Just don't go out and injure yourself more so that you really do walk like an old man at such a you age. Heck I bet you still have as much talent in your pinky finger as some of the fans posting on this site. GOOD LUCK.

LikeWith all of that money he has stolen thus far, why wouldn't he be in a position to go play for HEAT and get some rings, glory, exposure, and opportunity to play with some of if not the the best players of all time? Idiot if he does not chose Miami.
