Dr. Phil has officially landed the first exclusive interview with alleged fake-girlfriend hoax schemer Ronaiah Tuiasosopo. TMZ Sports reported that Dr. Phil and Tuiasosopo sat together for several hours in L.A. on Thursday, where they discussed Manti Te’o’s interview with Katie Couric.

TMZ’s sources say the interview was “emotional and deep.” It’s expected to air sometime next week.

Manti Te’o said Tuiasosopo confessed privately to the hoax, but the alleged hoaxer has not addressed the public yet. TMZ also reported that Tuiasosopo had “intense feelings” for Te’o, which he channeled and cultivated through the Lennay Kekua persona.

For a kid that grew up with the internet he had to know. Maybe not in the very beginning but when "she" would never show up on Skype and they never met even when only miles apart, he had to put it together a lot earlier than when he said he found out. Maybe he enjoyed this fantasy land separate from his everyday life and then realized bringing this fantasy (lie) into his real life was beneficial. The biggest signs to me are the fact he never visited the "love of his life" in the hospital, never went to the funeral, and never missed a day of practice (which I think anyone with a real relationship certainly would after such events). Also, Tuiasosopo, was his guest at the USC game. In the end, yes, I think he might have been duped initially but he certainly did not hesitate to perpetuate this fantasy, even after early December. Manti Te'o the "great perpetuator". From his perspective, it might not be a bad thing. He certainly gained a lot of attention as a result of "her" dying. More attention than any LB in the history of CFB has when ranked 52nd in total tackles. Heck, more attention than the guys ranked 1-51 in total tackles combined.

I hope Dr. Phil leads with the Katie Couric question "Are you gay?" Dude has been in denial his whole life.

I'd like to know why "doctor" Phil is called doctor. Dude doesn't have a medical degree. Look it up.

I think Te'o is part of a 'read-option' hoax. His extended Samoan family had several fall-back options if their hoax was discovered. First option was to fake to Lennay and give the ball to a fall-guy: Ronaiah Tuiasosopo. Second option was to fake to Ronaiah and give the ball to Tino Tuiasosopo. The defense ( media) is running around trying to guess what's next. With Te'o's team bringing in extra blockers Jeremy Schaap and Katie Couric, the defense has to rely upon Phil "da Doctor" McGraw  to sack Te'o for a loss. Can Dr. Phil get nasty enough with Ronaiah to get him to reveal the playbook ?

@JeffShields  @Mel He obtained his B.A, M.A. and Ph.D from the same school? And not to be rude to Denton High, but I had no idea that the Mean Green had doctorate programs.
